Blog Tour: Tinder by Sally Gardner

Blog Tour: Tinder by Sally Gardner

Interview: Sally Gardner on Fairy tales and Retellings I was so excited when the lovely people at Indigo offered me the chance to interview Sally about her latest novel, Tinder, and her approach to retellings and fairytales. It was the first phone interview I have conducted so I was quite nervous, by which I mean very, nervous however Sally was absolutely lovely and I could have talked to her all day! Here is the interview, as transcribed by my notes and memory so hopefully I’ve not missed or misrepresented anything pertinent, however it is important to note that Sally’s answers are not word for word as she answered but paraphrased and recalled from my memory and notes.   After thanking Sally for holding the interview and introducing myself, my first question was about how she approached retelling The Tinderbox fairytale by […]

#murderonthebeach Blog Tour: Juno Dawson and Kate Harrison’s Top 5 Villains

#murderonthebeach Blog Tour: Juno Dawson and Kate Harrison’s Top 5 Villains

Today I am very excited to be taking part in the murderonthebeach blog tour for Juno Dawson’s  new book Cruel Summer and Kate Harrison’s conclusion to the Soul Beach trilogy, Soul Storm. Both Juno and Kate are sharing their top five villains in fiction so I’ll hand you over to them. Juno’ Top Five = A good villain is so hard to get right. They’re the most fun to write, too. It’s with some regret that I killed off Laura Rigg in Hollow Pike as I see now she was the best character! I have a soft spot for villains you love to hate and hate to love. Here are five of my literary faves. Mrs Coulter from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman File under ‘misguided genius’. Marissa Coulter, mother of heroic Lyra, is on a righteous mission against sin whilst […]

Blog Tour: Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon

Blog Tour: Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon

I’m delighted today to be providing you with a guest post by Christian Schoon as part of his blog tour for his upcoming YA novel, Zenn Scarlett. I’m reading it right now so look out for my review shortly.  Here’s the Goodreads summary to tell you a little more about the book before Christian’s post: Zenn Scarlett is a resourceful, determined 17-year-old girl working hard to make it through her novice year of exovet training. That means she’s learning to care for alien creatures that are mostly large, generally dangerous and profoundly fascinating. Zenn’s all-important end-of-term tests at the Ciscan Cloister Exovet Clinic on Mars are coming up, and, she’s feeling confident of acing the exams. But when a series of inexplicable animal escapes and other disturbing events hit the school, Zenn finds herself being blamed for the problems. As […]

Blog Tour: Dead Romantic by CJ Skuse

Blog Tour: Dead Romantic by CJ Skuse

Today I am massively excited to share with you the totes awesome post for the Dead Romantic blog tour I have. Dead Romantic is about two very different friends, Camille and Zoe, who try and build the ultimate boyfriend, um, from dead body parts! It’s a funny, heart-felt and at times very creepy read (seriously, the hospital scene, that’s all I say) that embraces the macabre and humour all at once. CJ has been kind enough to share her mood board she created when writing Dead Romantic so I’m going to hand it over to now (and also secretly pine for my own mood board for my writing as it’s such a good idea!) At the time of this mood board’s creation, I was having real trouble deciding exactly what this book was about. There were so many elements I […]

Blog Tour: Crewel by Gennifer Albin

Blog Tour: Crewel by Gennifer Albin

Firstly, a huge apology as this was supposed to go up yesterday but didn’t queue properly and I was out all day yesterday and today so didn’t realise it hadn’t worked! However, I am so excited to be part of this blog tour so will share my post now. Crewel is a brilliant YA dystopian, which my review of should be up in the next week, and has just been released in the UK by Faber and Faber. Today, I am excited to share with you the inspiration for Crewel so will now hand you over to Gennifer. However, first I would like to point out this video which features a song called It’s A Lie by Roisin O’Hagan who entered Faber’s competition for the book trailer soundtrack! CREWEL was inspired when I saw a favorite […]

Blog Tour: Breathe by Sarah Crossan + Giveaway!

Blog Tour: Breathe by Sarah Crossan + Giveaway!

So today I am really excited to be part of Breathe’s blog tour. Breathe is a fantastic YA dystopia and I really enjoyed it.          What happens next? – Will there be more books in the series or is Breathe a stand-alone title? I wrote Breathe as a standalone title, and in my naivety was convinced I’d wrapped up the story in less than 80,000 words. My editor didn’t agree! And so there will be a sequel, which I am currently editing. I’m toying with the idea of a third novel, perhaps a prequel which explains the Switch in more detail, but nothing is set in stone as yet. Now, I can also share with you the first chapter of Breathe and I also have a copy to give away courtesy of Bloomsbury. As this is provided by the […]

Blog Tour: Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings

Blog Tour: Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings

Today I am very excited to share with you a wonderful guest post from the awesome Sean Cummings as part of his Poltergeeks blog tour. Poltergeeks is a fab, fun urban fantasy about the daughter of a witch and my review is also being posted today so check that out too. And without further a due, I shall hand you over to Sean to discuss romance and YA.             Uncomplicated romance. Not that I have anything at all against love triangles or protagonists who tear themselves apart as they are forced to choose between two prospective suitors. It’s a common theme in a lot of paranormal romance – the love triangle. That or often you find a love interest who is dark and brooding, mysterious and dangerous. Bella and Edward lead the pack on this […]

Blog Tour: Hollow Pike by Juno Dawson – Bagelicious Deleted Scene

Blog Tour: Hollow Pike by Juno Dawson – Bagelicious Deleted Scene

It’s no secret I adored Hollow Pike and I’m a big fan of Junos’ writing, plus she’s such a genuine and hilarious person to chat to! I am therefore excited to share with you a bagelious deleted scene from Hollow Pike as part of the mini blog tour for her paperback release of Hollow Pike, it has purple edged pages and is tres pretty so if you haven’t already read it, go buy it on Thursday when the paperback is released.     Deleted Scene: “Plotting at Bagelicious” A similar scene exists in Hollow Pike, but in the original draft there were two scenes where Lis, Kitty, Jack and Delilah plot Laura’s death. This is the second, and it takes place at Bagelicious, where Jack works. By the time they’d discussed a potential trip to Leeds next weekend, they found they’d arrived […]

Blog Tour: Q&A with Bethany Griffin, Author of The Masque of the Red Death

Blog Tour: Q&A with Bethany Griffin, Author of The Masque of the Red Death

Firstly I owe a big apology to both Bethany and the fantastic folk at Indigo for the fact this post is late. Unfortunately lots has been happening outside my blog and it’s affected my blogging. However, today’s post is not about me but the fantabulous Bethany Griffin and her awesome book The Masque of the Red Death which I adored, and knew I had to read the second I read the summary. I reviewed it here. To celebrate her UK release, I have a lovely interview with the author! Today I am excited to be interviewing the wonderful Bethany Griffin as part of her blog tour for the UK release of her debut YA novel, The Masque of the Red Death published by Indigo. Bethany, thank you for being here at ChooseYA. Could you tell us a little bit about your […]
