Blog Tour: The Bad Tuesdays: Spiral Horizon by Benjamin J Myers

Blog Tour: The Bad Tuesdays: Spiral Horizon by Benjamin J Myers

The final book in Benjamin Myers’ YA series, The Bad Tuesdays, has just been released. So to celebrate the release of this book, I was lucky enough to snag a place on Myers’ blog tour through his publishers, Orion, and have a fabulous post about Magic vs Science: Making the Fantastic happen from the author himself. These books are described as Philip Pullman meets Dr Who, which sounds an amazing combination. The publishers were kind enough to send me a set of the books and I am really looking forward to getting stuck into them! So without further a due, I shall hand you over to the very capable Benjamin J Myers!           SCIENCE vs MAGIC: MAKING THE FANTASTIC HAPPEN  Most of us know the difference between fantasy and reality and that’s the problem.  What we want […]

Blog Tour: Dad, Geeks and Blue Haired Freaks by Ellie Philips

Blog Tour: Dad, Geeks and Blue Haired Freaks by Ellie Philips

I owe Jenny at Electric Monkey and Ellie an apology for this post being a day late, unfortunately I’ve been ill recently and then had to work yesterday so couldn’t post the blog. It won’t happen again and I am sorry guys! So without further adue here’s the final stop on Ellie Philips tour and we’re talking ideal movie casting. Thursday 21st June Hairstyle of the Day: Today’s hairstyle would have to be something straight, dark and Cleopatra-like while I’m thinking of movie stars to play Sadie: Of course I would love Dads Geeks to be turned into a movie.  Perhaps Martin Scorsese might direct.  And the cast? OK.  Movie Cast: Somebody completely unknown would have to play Sadie just to make her believable.  But why not Ellen Page? She’d be perfect. I love her! Tony Cruz would be played by Luke […]

Hello everyone, today I am excited to share with you my questions and answers with the lovely Em Bailey as part of her blog tour for debut YA novel Shift, which is published by the lovely people over at Electric Monkey. Emma Heart’s LA Blog Tour: Q&A with Keris Stainton

Emma Heart’s LA Blog Tour: Q&A with Keris Stainton

So today I am delighted to share with you my Q&A with Keris Stainton as part of her blog tour for her new novel, Emma Heart’s LA which is out now (published by Orchard books) and I’ll be reviewing very soon! Keris writes fantastic contemporary UKYA and founded the UKYA website too. Keris Stainton also wrote Della Says OMG and Jessie Heart’s NYC too, both of which are also excellent novels.   What made you want to write YA and how did you go about making it transpire? I didn’t actually think about writing YA to begin with, I just had an idea that worked best with a teenager as the main character. I had been reading quite a lot of teen fiction though, so that may have had something to do with it! The first book I wrote is […]

Review: How To Keep A Boy As A Pet by Diane Messidoro

Review: How To Keep A Boy As A Pet by Diane Messidoro

As you may seen, recently I took part in my first ever blog tour and the very lovely Diane Messidoro did a lovely guest post for me about her debut novel, How To Keep A Boy As  A Pet. I actually read this book a few weeks ago, however a big uni deadline (50%  in total of my masters is handed in now, which scares me a lot) and assorted other things meant I couldn’t get around to writing my review until now. Sorry Electric Monkey and Diane, but I hope this is better a little later than the release date than never. Having read a lot of ‘serious’ and ‘gritty’ YA of late, and writing something of that ilk myself, I have to admit How To Keep A Boy As A Pet was a breath of fresh air to […]
